Demetrius, who has no previous acting experience, was cast by producer L.T. Hutton. Since accepting the role of a lifetime, he has been taking acting classes 4 times a week. He was selected largely in part because of his remarkable resemblance to Shakur. The Morgan Creek Productions flick is being directed by Benny Boom.

NFL player Desean Jackson will also serve as a producer.

The Morgan Creek Productions website says the film is coming soon. No release date is listed.

'Power' + It's Actors Omari Hardwick & Naturi Naughton Nominated For 3 NAACP Image Awards (Full Nominees List Inside)

The nominations for the 2015 NAACP Image Awards have been announced. The 50 Cent executive produced STARZ crime drama, "Power," will be well represented.

It was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series. In addition, Naturi Naughton, got a nod for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series.

Omari Hardwick is up for the Outstanding Actor In A Drama Series trophy.

"Was sitting in the trailer at work thinking of how best to speak gratitude for the @Naacp & the special fans God has loaned me. Looked to the left while studying at my desk, & there it was. The inside of my gum pack. Said it all. I get to make choices pulled from my life walks & training as an artist. I get to play with friends," Hardwick wrote via his Instagram account. "Acting is Tennis at its least. It is climbing a mountain with your scene comrades at its best. I get to challenge myself & others everyday to dig the #TRUTH..pun intended, the mess, the joy, the ugly & the kinda cool outta me & them. I get to share these characters I've been hired to live in (in this case Ghost) with all of you. The gum pack says it all. I am honored #Naacp2016 to be yet again recognized amongst all of these great talented personal friends of mine also nominated. I thank my beautiful family & my remarkable patient tribe. I thank you @power_starz...my amazing cast mates, phenomenal crew, directors, producers, & @kempagboh, @50cent. Lastly, I congratulate you...my friend & partner, @naturi4real for this recognition of your hard work and growth. I am proud of you!"

Actor/G-Unit artist Rotimi, who plays "Dre" in the series, was happy to see the show getting the recognition it deserves.

"When you're apart of something legendary, all you can do is give God the glory. 3 Nominations for NAACP! @Power_Starz," he wrote on Twitter.

Courtney Kemp Agboh

"Power" creator/writer/executive producer, Courtney Kemp Agboh, was also thrilled to hear the great news.
